Day 3 - Blustery Conditions

I was happier with today's outcome than I was with yesterday's offering. I feel that I got a bit more drama into the ocean with this one. Today I also included one of the container ships that are a constant presence on the horizon as they make their way to and from Fremantle Port from all around the world.

When I first thought of participating in this challenge, I decided that I would create images of local scenes and wildflowers - amongst other things - in the hope that a few will be suitable to use for greeting cards should I ever do another print run.

    Wow Wendy! They just keep getting better and better! I love the foreground and clouds and such a pretty palette of blues.

    I think you will have a lot more than just a few cards to print when the month is over!

    I love the container ships. Even though it is in the distance, still a nice contrast to nature. The sea and clouds are all inviting. I will probably need a mother 30 to even begin oceans. Lovely push this morning to get me to my challenge.

    I love the container in the background contrasting with nature. Maybe in a few years I'll try oceans. I'm sure they are just a joy to paint as to view. It's excellent.

    G'Day Mate!
    Excuse me but, Wow!
    Love the huge wave crashing on the beach. The clouds are ominous and foreboding in the most positive way! Adding the breathtaking clouds, the exciting sea grass in the foreground, and the powerful wave certainly provided fantastic drama to this very successful piece. The tiny container ship in the background made for terrific perspective on the distance to the horizon and the immensity of our beautiful ocean!
    Clouds and the ocean are some of my favorites and you did them both very, very well!

      Ah Michael! It is always such a delight to receive your exuberant comments!! I so enjoyed painting the clouds today that I may focus on a cloudscape tomorrow - or maybe ocean and sky once again. I find that the morning will tell me what to paint - funny how an idea that seemed wonderful the night before can hold no charm by morning.
      I'm looking forward to your next ocean and cloud paintings - they are always a treat.
      Now we are on the subject of clouds. I had cause to look something up about clouds this very evening. I immediately turned to my trusty book "The Cloudspotter's Guide" Can you believe that such a book exists? It is wonderfully quirky, informative and celebratory about every conceivable cloud in existence.

    Really good work, Wendy! You painted the breaking waves, the clouds and the Dune Flora wonderfully. I think this painting is very suitable for your greeting cards. Good luck with today's painting! :)

    Wendy...I love your waves. I have a picture of the ocean from a boat ride we took in Nevis, St. Kitts this February. It was the first time traveling there and we loved it. I'm going to attempt it tomorrow...ocean waves are a bit intimidating for me...but I love yours. There is so much motion and you nailed the depth. Great job.
