Grandma's Colander in ink and watercolour - # 24

What a great start to the morning! I have been in an atrocious habit of getting to bed after midnight lately but last night I somehow manhandled myself into bed very early and was asleep by 9.30pm. Up with the parrots this morning to sketch this and was finished by 8am! Oh how I would love to make "early to bed and early to rise" a regular occurrence! I need to transfer some of my artistic willpower into my sleep routine.

Below is an acrylic painting I did of the same beloved colander that I painted during last September's 30/30 challenge. Today's was a much quicker and easier version thankfully as I'm getting seriously behind!

  1. Your colander makes a great subject Wendy. Wish I could actually stay awake at night a bit longer but sadly we start very early every morning so no chance for me. Often miss favourite tv shows!

  2. Wow Wendy - just wonderful - both the pen and ink drawing as well as your previous painting. My trouble is I go to bed late and back up between 4:00 & 5:00 am...definitely not enough rest. I so love painting in the early mornings but for some reason my art is not done now until later in the evening and it is hard to pull myself out of the studio and into bed. May need to work on this routine and tweak it a bit!! Have a wonderful day.

  3. Both colander paintings are great, I love the vintage look it has. I would so much love to be an early sleeper , but unfortunately it is always WAYYYY past midnight !

  4. It is a very appealing ink and water colour Wendy - love the shadows and the soft colouring.
