  1. Your work looks fantastic altogether. There is nice feel to your work, Wendy. "The whole is greater than its parts". You have a definite style that comes through. Thank YOU for all the positive and supportive comments you have made. Here is to being sisters in art! Happy painting, indeed!

    1. Thanks so much Kaethe! I like to hear when people see a definitive style as I'm not really able to see it myself as yet. I certainly see one in your stunning collage! It oozes sunshine!
Hear, hear to being sisters in art!

    1. Dear Ocean/Cobber/Cobbler aka Michael, I think I could hear you from here! Thank you!
Yes, "Good on you" means well done.
Depending on tone and situation, "good onya mate!" can also be used as a form of thanks.
Now I want to try some bigger paintings, but whether I will or not remains to be seen. But more pressingly, I want to do some writing to try to finish off a book I began writing last year. I have set myself the challenge of spending 10 hours on it this week, but I haven't started yet as I'm still recovering from the painting challenge!
I hope you're having a productive week Michael!!

    2. Go for the writing Wendy! Good for you! Writing a book is certainly a great challenge and wonderful accomplishment. I have a huge respect for writers. I think of writers as artists who use words instead of colors! And so much more. I did some writing in the past. Mostly nonfiction. Memoirs! All autobiographical. Always toying with the idea of writing and illustrating children's books. I write every day in my journal. Been doing it since 1978!
      Good on you Mate!

    3. That's impressive that you've kept a daily journal for so long Michael. I had kept a daily journal for 15 years straight at one time but let it slide for a few years. I took it up again last year. Keeps the writing muscles exercised doesn't it!? Did you have your non-fiction work published? I hope you do go ahead with your children's books.

  4. Just popped in as I am waiting for some masking fluid to dry. These look fantastic all together. Very impressive. I know it took you ages to do the collage too as I used to display my Group's work like this at the end of each month. Really worth doing. Just imagine if this was a real patchwork. Wouldn't that be fun and cosy

    1. Thanks Laura, you've been a great supporter thank you! Yes, I had to call for backup in the form of my daughter to help me just to work out how to get 30 paintings into the collage in the first place! I know, I've often thought how nice collections of paintings would look as patchwork quilts!
You have been on fire creatively since your trip to South Africa! I love seeing all your beautiful work!

    1. Thanks so much Jane! Yes, it's been so nice to see everyone's collages as they do make beautiful artworks in themselves. So interesting to see the distinctive styles and palettes coming through when looking at them all on Leslie's blog.

  12. Hi Wendy,
Congrats, you did the challenge. I'm sure you learned a lot. That of course is the big objective. There are some impressive ones here too.
    My favorites:
"Grandma's Colander", you cropped it perfectly and your application of paint is perfect for the subject. I see the enameled surface and not paint, Nice Job!

"Wading in the Shadows", your artistic decisions from the photo are spot on. Leaving out the boat and extending the colored water line down to waist level, cropping in to 6 x 6 made for a better painting. Good to use photos and not let them dictate. Your'e thinking.

"Spider Orchid" and "Floral Emblem", great design within the picture plane.

"Grass Tree", I like your robust version of this.

"Blustery Conditions" Yes, you certainly caught those conditions, but there is also a subtle underlying design strength.

Although I love the bee in "Peach Blossom with Bee" (Day 17) I actually like a little bit better "Peach Blossom" (Day15) for its lush paint application, pink paint bleed and odd left-facing off-center composition. I always like the unusual.

All in all I can see your improvement over the 30 days.

    Keep painting.

  13. Hi David,
I really appreciated hearing which were your favourites and why. It's great to get insights into aspects I hadn't been aware of myself! It was very kind of you to take the time to write such a considered and lengthy comment. Every bit of feedback is highly valued!!
I love your latest paintings - as I do all of them!!
    Happy painting!
