Sunset and Nearly Sunset

All has been fairly quiet on the painting front lately but not on the creative front overall. I have been spending a lot of time on my writing. Both on an adult non-fiction manuscript and a children's picture book story that I am re-working.

I did finally put brush to board today and have been doing a cupcake illustration in acrylics. I'm not sure if it will be respectable enough to post when I finish it off tomorrow, but in the meantime I thought I would post this pretty skyscape and also the seascape.

Back yard sunset

Almost sunset on our beach walk.
Both of these photos were taken in January.

  1. Great photos Wendy! Both the sunset and the seascape are spectacular!
    Good luck with your writing!
Looking forward to your cupcake illustrations and more details on your children's picture book! (I am a retired, thirty-five years, elementary and middle school teacher!)
    Take care mate!

    1. Thank you Michael!
Sounds like you had a long and productive career in teaching. I imagine your students must have loved your creative side.
I've been enjoying working on a children's story again. I originally wrote it over five years ago but the word count was way too long. I've recently re-visited it and have been working on cutting it back dramatically. It's a challenge trying to get the same meaning into less words, but I love playing with words so it's been a lot of fun.
I so loved your latest ocean paintings!
      Happy painting!

  2. You're so multi-talented Wendy! I think it's very impressive you not only wrote several books, but also did the all the illustrations for them!! By the way, that photograph of your backyard sunset looks really amazing. Good luck with the cupcake painting!

    1. That's very kind of you to say so Hilje!
We've had some stunning sky-scapes of late. I love clear blue skies, but I also love clouds.
I've really been enjoying following your beautiful blog!
